Coastal Commission Approval!

July 29, 2024

Fantastic news! The Coastal Permit Administrator (CPA) has approved our project. From here we will complete the requirements for our building permit.

Next step is to kick-off our fundraising efforts. We hope to begin construction in Spring 2025.

We Are One Step Closer to Starting Construction!

April 17, 2024

A tentative hearing date with the Coastal Permit Administrator (CPA) has been scheduled for June 27, 2024.

Upon CPA approval, letters describing the project will be distributed to local and state agencies for their feedback and comments. Once this process completes, the final building permit request will be filed.

NCCVM Application Submitted

February 5, 2021

With the help of local architect Matthias Oppliger, the NCCVM application, along with architectural drawings and renderings, was submitted to Mendocino County Planning and Building for approval.

Monument Location Finalized

The Point Arena Lighthouse Board has agreed that that the Northern California Coastal Veterans Monument would augment their own mission while providing an ideal setting for the monument.

NCCVM Meets with Point Arena Lighthouse Board

December 16, 2019

NCCVM board members presented the idea of locating the Northern California Coastal Veterans Monument on the lighthouse grounds.

The lighthouse board's reaction was mixed, but they are willing to further explore the idea with the team.
